AI search tools link to social media a lot. SE Ranking’s study of 100,000 keywords found that social platform links appeared 67.66% of the time in Google AI Overviews and 32.39% of Google AI Mode answers.
As a TikTok Marketing Agency, we have been talking about how important it is for brands to have an active social presence to be found. And now SE Ranking’s study supports it.
Below, we explain what the study found and how your brand can improve its social presence online.
What Did the SE Ranking Study Find?
The SE Ranking study is an analysis of 100,000 keywords across 20 niches. It checks how often social and community sites show up in Google results and AI answers. They found out that:
- Regular Google results lean on social media too. 76.73% of searches had at least one social or community site in the top 10.
- ChatGPT cites social far less often. Social links appeared in 8.4% of its answers.
- Reddit leads in regular results. It was in the top 10 for 46.28% of searches, with YouTube and Facebook each close to 30%.
- YouTube leads in AI Overviews. It makes up 16.2% of all citations there.
- Topic changes the picture. Social sites appeared in 95.34% of relationship searches and 92.14% of career searches, but only 32.70% of real estate searches.
- People ask differently when no brand is named. In AI Mode, social sources appeared in 48.58% of answers to searches without a brand name, against 39.34% for searches that name one.
What this tells us is simple. Social platforms are now part of the results people see, in every tool and in almost every niche.
Brands can no longer afford to be absent from them. If your brand isn’t showing up on the platforms where your niche is being searched, you are invisible at the exact moment your customer is are looking for you.
How Can Brands Stay Active on Social Media?
If you find yourself asking that question, influencer marketing is one of the best answers. Because the type of engagement and consistency required to keep an active online presence is not easy. But when you partner with creators who post for you, in a voice people trust, it takes a lot of the load off your team.
Planable’s own test adds a warning: it published through brand channels for twelve months, including YouTube, carousels, and its own subreddit, and saw no noticeable lift in AI visibility.
Articles published through personal profiles did better, with 8 of 25 cited in 422 AI answers. That is one brand’s result, not proof, but it suggests that being on social is not enough on its own. What gets posted, and who posts it, matters.
Is Influencer Marketing Worth It for Brand Visibility?
Influencer marketing is one of the best ways to build a brand presence on social media because it delivers on both cost and results.
According to the figures in our influencer marketing stats roundup, influencer marketing returns an average of $5.78 for every $1 spent. 86% of consumers have made an influencer-driven purchase in the past year. 83% of marketers say sponsored influencer content drives more conversions than branded organic posts.
One video from Praktika, an AI language-learning app, pulled 6.7M views on TikTok. The team then doubled down on the format and put paid media boosting behind the winning videos, and annual recurring revenue reportedly went from $1M to $12M in four months.

That is why influencer content is a compounding asset. A creator post does not stop working once it goes live. It can be reposted, boosted with paid media, and reused as ad creative, so each use adds to the original investment. Praktika did not pay for one video. It found the format that worked and kept putting budget behind it.
House of Marketers Insight: Be Where Your Customers Are Searching
The SE Ranking study tells us where AI tools look. Social search tells us why. As our Co-Founder Inigo Rivero puts it,
“People no longer find answers through neutral results pages. They find them through creators demonstrating solutions in public.”
More people now start their search inside TikTok, Instagram and YouTube because they want answers from other people, not from brands. Adobe Express’s research found that 49% of US consumers now use TikTok as a search engine. AI tools draw on those same platforms, so a brand with no presence on them is missing from the places people look, in the feed and in the AI answer.
Creators are the fastest way to fix that. Their audiences trust them, which is why 86% of consumers have made an influencer-driven purchase. And their content can be reused and boosted. So we recommend four things:
- Brief creators on the questions your audience asks. Those are the searches happening on social.
- Work with the same specialists repeatedly. A steady flow of posts is what builds a presence.
- Put paid media behind what wins. That is how one post keeps working.
- Spread across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. Each AI tool favours different platforms.
House of Marketers runs end-to-end influencer and paid social campaigns across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, built by a team with insider platform experience. If you want creator content built to be found as well as seen, get in touch for a free campaign proposal.
